The holiday season is upon us and with it comes the tradition of gift giving.  Black Friday is coming right up and, with ammo still scarce and firearm prices still high, shopping for the firearms enthusiast in your life might seem like a daunting task, but fear not.  Whether it’s going under a tree, into a stocking, around a Festivus pole or elsewhere, GunLink is here to make it easy to find the right gift.  While you’re at it, go ahead and pick up something for yourself.  You deserve it.  And if you are going gun shopping on Black Friday, don’t forget about the extended Black Friday NICS background check hours.

The Gift That Keeps On Giving

We’ll start off with the easy stuff.  How about the gift of the Second Amendment?  Gifting a membership to RKBA organizations or making a charitable donation is easy, affordable and beneficial to us all.  In addition to helping defend 2A rights, membership in some organizations (e.g. NRA) includes extra benefits like magazines, firearms insurance and more.  Memberships can generally be purchased online, so you don’t even have to get dressed to go shopping for them.  Save $10 on NRA memberships here.  The offer is good on new memberships as well as renewals, so you can get one for the whole family, even if they’re already members.  There are plenty of other great organizations as well, such as GOA, JPFO (bonus points for ironic Christmas gifting), SAF, The Firearms Coalition and more, so you have plenty of choices.

Infringed Apparel - Pro ChoiceSomething to Hold On To

Looking for something more tangible?  Maybe something… wearable?  Something to make a Second Amendment statement?  Check out some of the slick shirts from Infringed Apparel.  A USMC veteran-owned company, Infringed Apparel offers a selection of great no-bones-about-it pro-gun gear.  As their mission statement says, they’re “taking this fight directly to the liars who are attacking our US Constitution.”  It might not be wearing your heart on your sleeve, but it’s wearing your love of the Constitution on your chest.  You can also find more RKBA gear such as shirts, iPhone cases, mugs and more in the GunLink Store.

Firearms enthusiasts love getting new gear and our friends over at TacDaddy can help you help them.  With everything from holsters, magazines and AR furniture to targets, gloves and non-lethal defense products, they almost certainly have something for the gun-lover on your list (and, if they don’t have it, they’ll do their best to get it for you).  If you’re shopping for a prepper, TacDaddy even has goodies for them – shelf-stable food, hidden storage products and more.  TacDaddy also carries Infringed Apparel – talk about one stop shopping!  And to top it all off, TacDaddy is even offering free shipping through 2014!  PS… Don’t forget to check out TacDaddy Live on Thursdays and chat with the TD crew on the GunLink Forums.

If you’re still coming up short with ideas about what to put under the tree, we’ve reviewed a number of top-notch gifts here on the GunLink Blog.  Be sure to check out our favorites:  Sticky Holsterslaser dry-fire training systems and Lin-Speed gun stock refinishing oil.  If you need a rock solid flashlight that you can drive nails with, be sure to check out what Elzetta has to offer.  Or, if you have a boatload of money to spend on your gift for someone that could use a little help with long range shots, check out the Tracking Point Xact system and “1000 yards is easy,” even if it does run upward of $20K.

Something More Cerebral

Think your recipients would prefer something that goes better with a comfy chair and a hot drink?  There’s no shortage of great firearms related books out there.  For the history buff and Second Amendment patriot, The Gun Rights War should be on the must-read list.  GRW is a collection of Neal Knox’s articles throughout the years and can be read cover-to-cover or in small chunks.

For something a little less wordy, a coffee table book of guns makes a perfect gift.  Something like The Illustrated Book of Guns or Rifles and Machine Guns offers a great gallery of firearms pictures and really ramps up the intimidation when your kid’s suitors come over.

If you’re buying for a DIY-er of any age, be sure to check out LEGO Heavy Weapons by teen UK LEGO prodigy Jack Streat.  Don’t scoff at the idea of playing with children’s building blocks – this book provides detailed instructions and parts lists to build four fully-functioning firearm replicas that shoot LEGOs.

Going Digital

What is one thing that nearly all firearms enthusiasts have in common?  GUNS!  Keeping track of firearms for personal peace of mind, FFL requirements, insurance records and routine maintenance can be a time consuming hassle.  Ditch the mountains of paper records or unwieldy spreadsheets and check out MyGunDB.  This software, 100% free to use for up to 10 firearms, securely keeps your encrypted records on your computer or flash drive and even integrates with Dropbox and other tools.  If 10 firearms seems a little low for your needs, unlocking unlimited entries is less than $25.  Be sure to check out the special MyGunDB GunLink Edition here.

If the gun owner in your life is always tinkering with their firearms, get your budding gunsmith something they’ll really put to good use.  The Firearms Guide, available for PCs an Macs, is an electronic goldmine of information, including schematics, high resolution picture, more than 4,000 printable targets and more.  The latest edition includes over 57,000 entries from more than 630 manufacturers and is only $40 shipped.

Of course, holidays aren’t about the gifts, they’re about celebrating something special and spending time with your friends, family and loved ones.  However, if you are giving gifts to the firearms enthusiasts in your life, we hope that this guide was helpful.  If you have other gift ideas that you think GunLink Blog readers would like to get, be sure to share them in the comments section below.

From the GunLink family to yours, have a fantastic holiday season.
