Armed Citizen: Kansas’ New Permitless Carry Law Helps Citizen Thwart Robbers
Joe Tapley was inside the Academy Sports and Outdoors store in Topeka, Kans. when three robbers started stealing firearms and cash from the behind the gun counter. As they made their way outside the store, Tapley confronted the thieves and ordered them to drop the guns. One of the criminals dropped two guns and then all three fled the scene.
Police captured the criminals a short time later and recovered all of the merchandise and money they had stolen. The thieves are facing robbery, burglary and assault charges.
Following the incident, Tapley explained to a local media outlet that he exercises his Right-to-Carry without a permit, following the recent enactment of permitless carry in Kansas. Tapley told a reporter, “Thats why Kansas made the law. So citizens can carry and protect themselves and others.” (WIBW, Topeka, Kans. 07/13/15)

The Top 535 People You Should Contact to Oppose Gun Control
Recently, a checkout-lane magazine popular with the American Idol crowd posted – amidst the latest dish on which famous couples are splitting up or which male celebrities are getting Botox treatment – an online article urging people to contact their representatives to “do something” about madmen killing people. Of course, echoing the president’s recent knee-jerk emotion-based plea, the implication is that the firearms are to blame and that more regulation is the cure. This despite the fact that the unconstitutional regulations for which they are calling would not (or, in some cases, did not) do anything to prevent such violence from being visited upon the lunatics’ disarmed victims.
They did, however, make one good point: that we should contact our representatives to make our opinions heard. Facts, real common sense, and – despite what some doctored propaganda pieces may say – public opinion is on the side of 2A rights. A few loudly complaining anti-gun zealots are hoping to be the “squeaky wheel” that warrants legislative grease while the silent majority of gun owners sit idly by. To make things easier for their readers to contact their reps, they list the contact information for all 435 US House and 100 US Senate members.
Great idea. Below is the list of those 535 voting members of the United States Congress. Scroll down to (or search the page for) your state and find your representatives and contact them to let them know what you think about the proven-ineffective (and often detrimental) gun control schemes that are being pushed. Armed Citizen: Pharmacist Scares Off Robber
A woman entered Spalitto’s Pharmacy in Kansas City, Mo., claimed she was armed, and demanded Oxycontin from a pharmacist. The pharmacist responded to the threat by retrieving a .45-caliber pistol and levelling it at the robber, which prompted her to flee.
Following the incident, the pharmacist told a local media outlet, “I don’t want to come across as a macho person… I care about everybody who is in there.” He also added, “It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out if you’re selling drugs in this day and age you should have a gun on you.” (KCTV, Kansas City, Mo. 06/09/15)

A burglar gained entry into a house in San Antonio, Texas through the doggie door. While the intruder was inside the home, the homeowner returned. Upon discovering the burglar, the homeowner retrieved a gun and shot the intruder multiple times.
Police have stated that following the incident the “homeowner was very cooperative.” The homeowner was a poor choice of target, as local FOX affiliate KABB described him as “a longtime business owner of a security company.” (KABB, San Antonio, Texas 06/11/15)

Low Profile UltiClip Offers Deep Concealment, Improved Retention
In their recent press release, Florida-based Ulticlip claimed that they intended to “bring concealed carry into the 21st Century.” As far as we can tell, they’ve done a pretty good job of modernizing one of the integral components of many holsters: the belt clip. Check that. Calling it a “belt clip” might not be all that accurate since the Ulticlip allows something somewhat uncommon: CCW without a belt.
Company owner Randall Darby sent over some of his Ulticlips to check out, so we gave them a try on a few different holster types. UltiClips are designed to work with a variety of holster designs. Basically, if your holster has belt clips that attach by a screw or fit through a sleeve, the Ulticlip will likely work with it. Paddle style holsters and pocket holsters without clip might be able to be cobbled up to work with the Ulticlip but, by their nature, they probably won’t work as designed.
We did most of our testing on our EDC IWB rigs from Alien Gear and N82 Tactical. Our N82 testing was done on the Pro model holsters; although the Original and Original Tuckable models use a clip that fits into a leather sleeve with a notch for the rib to stick out of, the sleeve is too tight for the Ulticlip rib to fit through. We also took the Ulticlips for a spin on a couple other styles of holsters and let some gun-buddies try them out on their holsters to get opinions.
The Ulticlip makers claim three main benefits of the upgraded belt clip: “ultimate retention, ultimate concealment, and ultimate versatility.” Let’s take a look at how they do in reaching these three goals. Continue reading
