NRA Membership Dues Set to Increase

NRAlogoUPDATE 7.21.2018: We have been seeing a lot of traffic on this post recently with people looking for news on the 2018 price increase. CLICK HERE for news on the price increase scheduled for August 1, 2018. CLICK HERE to join or renew your NRA membership today at discounted rates before OR after the dues increase.

UPDATE 1.22.2016:  It sounds like the notice sent out by NRA to some members might have lent itself to some misunderstanding about how the dues increase would work (see comments below).  I spoke with NRA staff while at SHOT Show 2016 to get clarification at the request of a few GunLink-ers.  If you were concerned about having to pay more if you already have – or are paying toward – a life membership, put those concerns aside, the deal you agreed to is the deal you get.  Price increases apply to new membership per the schedule listed below.

Other GunLink-ers had the concern about the impact on membership numbers a price increase might have, especially in the midst of the big “pen and phone” gun control measures we are facing.  NRA has heard those concerns and has postponed the increase through February.  Recruiters, such as the GunLink team, have been authorized to continue providing the current discounted membership rates “until further notice,” including after the official increase happens.  You can save on online memberships here or contact us regarding saving on longer membership terms.

According to a memo that we received from the National Rifle Association, current and prospective members will soon be facing an increase in the cost of membership dues for most membership types.

Current members will soon receive a notice in the mail announcing the increase, which will take effect in early 2016.   Associate membership and annual Junior membership dues remain unchanged while one, three, and five year memberships, as well as Life, Junior Life, and Distinguished Life membership types will all see an increase as follows:

  • 1-year dues will increase from $35 to $40
  • 3-year dues will increase from $85 to $100
  • 5-year dues will increase from $125 to $140
  • Life dues will increase from $1000 to $1500
  • Junior Life dues will increase from $550 to $750
  • Distinguished Life dues will increase from $375 to $750

NRA recruiters, including the GunLink team, have been authorized to continue offer new memberships and renewals at the current dues rates until notified otherwise, including available discounts on the current prices.   Continue reading

Video: Wayne LaPierre | How to Stop Violent Crime

Wayne LaPierre says no organization has been louder or clearer on the urgent need to enforce the federal gun laws than the NRA.  Check out Wayne’s commentary on the violence and murder that is commonplace in the model gun control city of Chicago and the lack of any real action toward enforcing existing gun laws.

Update
Check out Huffington Post’s Mike “The Gun Guy” Weisser make a fool of himself as he tries (and fails) to demonstrate that LaPierre, his video, and the NRA at large is racist, and then demonstrates his own racism by exhibiting the exact behavior of which he accused the NRA, and then taking it a few steps further.

NRA Backs Hearing Protection Act

SuppressorsFairfax, VA –  The National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) announced its support today for the Hearing Protection Act (H.R. 3799).

Sponsored by Congressman Matt Salmon (AZ-05), the legislation removes suppressors from regulations established under the National Firearms Act of 1934.

“Suppressors significantly reduce the chance of hearing loss for anyone who enjoys the shooting sports,” said Chris Cox, executive director of NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. “On behalf of the NRA and our 5 million members, I want to thank Rep. Salmon for his leadership on this important bill.”

Prevailing regulations requires buyers to send an application to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), pay a $200 tax, and pass an arduously time consuming ATF background check. Under Salmon’s bill there will be no application, no tax, and buyers would be required to pass the same National Criminal Instant Background Check (NICS) as law-abiding guns owners.

As a leading voice in the industry, the American Suppressor Association has provided valuable insight to the creation of the Hearing Protection Act. “Suppressors benefit all involved in hunting and the shooting sports. It’s time to bring the law in line with modern technology,” said Cox.

It is currently legal to hunt with a suppressor in 37 states. 41 states allow private ownership of suppressors.   Continue reading

Latest Alien Gear Holster Chosen as American Rifleman Editor’s Choice

cloak-tuck-3.0-whiteGunLink has reviewed a number of Alien Gear holsters and accessories, including the original Cloak Tuck IWB holster and the updated Cloak Tuck 2.0 model and clip options.  Now, their latest offering, the Cloak Tuck 3.0 line of holsters has been honored by the NRA’s American Rifleman editors.

American Rifleman has named the Cloak Tuck 3.0 concealed carry holster an Editor’s Choice for IWB holsters. According to Managing Editor Joseph L. Kurtenbach, Alien Gear Holsters has improved on the design of the Cloak Tuck Series after launching their third generation of concealed carry holsters.

After testing out the Cloak Tuck 3.0 for two months with several guns, Kurtenbach was impressed by a variety of elements that this inside the waistband holster had to offer.

“[I] was impressed by its comfort, concealment and ease of carry, regardless of the pistol’s weight.”

The NRA’s managing editor explained that Alien Gear Holsters has evolved the IWB holster to better suit the needs of concealed carriers.

“Alien Gear did not invent the winged IWB handgun holster, but the Idaho-based company’s Cloak Tuck 3.0 has evolved the design in terms of construction, comfort and value,” Kurtenbach said.

Kurtenbach tributes the quality of the Cloak Tuck 3.0 gun holster to a Continue reading

NRA Launches Television Ad Against Bloomberg’s Gun Control Agenda

The National Rifle Association aired its first political ad of the 2016 presidential campaign season during Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate.   The 30-second spot targeted gun control advocate and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the candidates whom he may back.

The NRA says that this ad is the first step in a multi-phased effort to remind voters of Bloomberg’s disdain for freedom and his agenda to taking away our Second Amendment rights.  The gun rights organization is expected to spend around $1 million on the ad, which will run on Fox News, CNN and on local television in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.  All three are home to early presidential primaries or caucuses.  The ad will also appear digitally in those states as well as South Carolina – another early primary state.

Previous political efforts by the NRA’s political arms (and, by extension, their many members at the polls) have been largely successful and they hope to see more success in defeating anti-gun candidates in the 2016 elections.
