Armed Citizen: Armed Husband Saves Pregnant Wife and Child From Rabid Fox

Armed.  Safe.A pregnant woman was watching over children playing in her backyard in Canton, Mass. when one of the children was attacked by a rabid fox. The woman rushed to the child’s aid, kicked the animal and called for her husband. The husband retrieved a gun and shot the fox three times, killing it.

The pregnant woman and the wounded child have undergone treatment for rabies and are recovering. (WFXT, Boston, Mass. 05/07/15)

Armed Citizen: Employee Kills Robber Armed With Shotgun

Armed.  Safe.A man entered the Paradise Island Smoke Shop in DeKalb, Ga. and requested that an employee retrieve an item from a shelf. When the employee turned to get the item, the man drew a shotgun and trained it on the worker. As the employee turned around, he grabbed the shotgun barrel, forced it in a different direction, and then drew a gun. The employee shot and killed the armed robber. Armed Citizen: Right-to-Carry Permit Holder Foils Carjacking

Armed.  Safe.A Right-to-Carry permit holder was in a grocery store parking lot in Orem, Utah, when he heard a woman screaming nearby. The woman had been taken out of her vehicle by a carjacker. The permit holder rushed to help and confronted the criminal. As the thief was lunging at him, the permit holder shot and killed the attacker.

An investigation revealed that the deceased carjacker was sought in connection with another car theft earlier that day. When asked whether the permit holder could face charges, Orem Police Captain Ned Jackson told reporters, “He’s trying to assist this lady whose car is being stolen. He was fighting with her, he was trying to protect her. Then at the point the suspect comes to him and he’s trying to take the gun from him, then he’s trying to protect himself.” (KSL, Salt Lake City, Utah 05/02/15)

Armed Citizen: Armed Homeowner Expels Intruders

Armed.  Safe.The family dog alerted a homeowner to a morning break-in at their Holladay, Utah home. The homeowner alerted the authorities, retrieved a pistol, and confronted the criminals; driving the thieves from the residence. Police arrived as the intruders were fleeing and arrested the pair. Armed Citizen: Auto Sales Worker Halts Masked and Armed Robber

Armed.  Safe.Alan Miller was working at Miller Auto Sales in Chattanooga, Tenn. when a masked and armed man attempted to rob the business. Miller responded by retrieving a gun and shooting the criminal twice, halting the robbery.

Following the incident, one of the business’ customers expressed support for Miller, telling a local media outlet, “I’d have shot him too.” After an investigation, police stated that Miller’s actions were justifiable, with Sgt. Scott Bales of the Chattanooga Police stating, “If you, yourself or another’s life is in danger, you have the right to protect yourself.” (Chattanooga Times Free Press, Chattanooga, Tenn. 03/28/15)

Armed Citizen: 84-year-old Right-to-Carry Permit Holder Defends Himself and His Wife From Armed Attacker

Armed.  Safe.84-year-old Doug Jandebeur was walking to his vehicle parked outside his business in Tulsa, Okla. when a man approached him from behind, punched him, and robbed him at gunpoint. After taking Jandebeur’s wallet, the criminal then turned his attention to Jandebeur’s business, where the elderly man’s wife was located. In describing to a local media outlet how he reacted to the threat, Jandebeur stated, “I pulled out my automatic and was getting ready to ventilate him.” Upon seeing the firearm, the armed robber fled the scene.

As for Jandebeur’s opinion on the Right-to-Carry, he told reporters, “Anybody who doesn’t arm themselves is asking for trouble.” (KOTV, Tulsa, Okla. 03/18/15)
