Armed Citizen: CCW Permit Holder Stops Meth-Addled Carjacker

Armed.  Safe.

A man who was high on meth attempted to carjack three different vehicles in Clay County, Ind. before being stopped by a Right-to-Carry permit holder.

First, the meth user attempted to gain access to a woman’s car, after which she used cell-phone to alert police. When this failed, the carjacker attempted to enter a vehicle holding three children. The criminal then stuck his hand through the passenger’s window of a third vehicle and attempted to unlock the door. The passenger sitting in the car, a Right-to-Carry permit holder, responded by retrieving a gun and leveling it at the carjacker, prompting the criminal to flee.

Police later captured the meth user at a nearby hotel. (The Brazil Times, Brazil, Ind. 02/09/15)

Armed Citizen: Woman Kills Home Invading Sex Offender

Armed.  Safe.

A woman was at her Van Zandt County, Texas home when she became aware of a man attempting to gain access to the house through a side door. The woman retrieved a gun and shot and killed the intruder.

It was later determined by local media outlet KLTV that the home invader was a suspect in an arson investigation earlier in the week, had an extensive criminal record, and had only recently been released from the county jail on charges of failing to register as a sex offender.

Van Zandt County Sheriff Lindsay Ray expressed his support for the armed citizen, stating, “Presently, as the result of underfunding and inadequate staffing at the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, homeowners need to take appropriate precautions to protect their families. I will continue to support the law abiding citizens of our community when they are forced to take actions to protect their lives, liberty and property.” (KLTV, Tyler, Texas, 02/10/15)

Armed Citizen: Resident Shoots Bat-Wielding Home Invader

Armed.  Safe.Christopher David was at home asleep in Edmond, Okla. when his dog alerted him to a bat-wielding intruder. Davis met the criminal at the front door, but the man forced his way inside and struck Davis with the bat. Davis responded by retrieving a handgun and fired at the home invader, striking him and causing him to flee. The intruder retreated to a nearby house and was captured by police a short time later. Armed Citizen: Pharmacist Halts Armed Robbery

Armed.  Safe.

A masked man entered Good Family Pharmacy in Pinch, W.V. and drew a gun on a store employee. The pharmacist on duty responded by retrieving a .45-caliber handgun and shooting the criminal twice in the chest. After the thief collapsed, store staff attempted to help the wounded robber, however he died a short time later.

Following the incident, the Kenawha County Sheriff’s Department made clear that the pharmacist will not face charges. Neighbors expressed their support for the pharmacist, with one stating, “More power to him. One less thief, in my opinion… If he came to my house I’d do the same thing.” Another man who owns a neighboring business remarked “Hopefully word gets around that this happened. Armed Citizen: Homeowner Kills One of Two Home Invaders

A homeowner in Claremont, N.C. became aware of a break-in attempt, retrieved a 12-gauge shotgun and called 911. A pair of criminals eventually made their way inside the home, but when they came upon the homeowner, the resident fired, striking and killing one of the home invaders and causing the other to flee.

Following the incident, Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid told a local media outlet, “No one likes to take anybody’s life… But at this point, he thought his life was being threatened and protected himself and his wife, which he has a right to do.” The sheriff also made clear that the suspect who fled could face felony murder charges in the death of his accomplice. Armed Citizen: CCW Permit Holder Stops Knife-Wielding Aggressor

Armed.  Safe.

An intoxicated man entered the Debi’s Filling Station restaurant in Okmulgee, Okla., drew a knife and confronted a customer. Another customer, a Right-to-Carry permit holder, took note of the threatening act, drew a gun and told the knife-wielding criminal “[p]ut your knife away. I have a gun.” The aggressor fled the restaurant, but was captured just outside the door.

Following the incident, restaurant employee Dayna Rucker told a local media outlet, “in this situation the good guy had the gun and helped diffuse the situation.” (KOTV, Tulsa, Okla. 02/18/15)
