Matt “Axe” Axelson Tribute Rifle to be Raffled to Benefit Special Operations Wounded Warriors

SHOT2016day1_6308Brownells, SOWW Partner to Raffle Axelson Tactical Rifle

We consider it an honor to have sat before the likes of true American heroes such as Marcus Luttrell and Ron Bellan and to hear the heartfelt words of Matt “Axe” Axelson’s family during SHOT Show 2016 as they came together with Brownells to announce the raffle of a rifle package to benefit Special Operations Wounded Warriors (SOWW).

The package includes the Axelson Tactical Rifle – one of only 99 built – serial numbered AXE01.  The rifle is a semi-auto replica of the one that Matt was carrying on June 28, 2005, when he and nine other US Navy SEALs and eight Army Aviation Soldiers were killed in combat in support of Operation Red Wings – the events of which were depicted in the book and film Lone Survivor:  The Eyewitness Account of Operation Redwing and the Lost Heroes of SEAL Team 10.   Continue reading

Brownells New Products Week in Review for December 11, 2015

Paul Levy, Brownells Product Manager, shares the inside scoop on new products this week.

New products include:

  • Brownells B-TAC AR-15 5.56 Barrels – These barrels are made from 4150V steel and have a black Nitride finish that resists wear, gives good lubricity and makes them easy to clean. They accept .750″ gas blocks, not included, and have standard ½-28 muzzle threads. The 16″ version has a mid-length gas system, 1-7″ twist rifling and a SOCOM profile. The 10.5″ version has a carbine gas system, 1-9″ twist rifling and an M4 profile.
  • Brownells B-TAC AR-15 .300 Blackout Barrels – These .300 Blackout barrels give many of the same great benefits as the B-TAC barrels in 5.56. Both have 5/8-24 muzzle threads for .30 caliber muzzle devices, and have 1-8″ twist rates to stabilize both super- and sub-sonic .300 Blackout loads. Available in 16″ length with carbine gas system, or 10.5″ with pistol gas system.
  • Magpul AK/AKM PMAG M3 30-rd Magazine – Lightweight, polymer magazines fit into 7.62×39 Kalashnikov-style rifles and give reliable, consistent feeding. M3 magazine has steel-reinforced locking lugs on both front and back for long service life. Floorplate removes for easy cleaning and maintenance and low-friction follower gives smooth operation.  Available in black and sand.
  • XS Sight Systems Armorer’s Block For AR Platforms – Machined aluminum block fits into a vise and accepts upper receivers from standard AR-15s, as well as AR-10, SR25 and DPMS Gen II .308 rifles to help make work, maintenance or rifle building convenient. Comes with two pins with easy-pull rings to help keep upper secure. Block has “FRONT” marking to help instantly orient the upper correctly. Thick aluminum construction won’t flex in the vise, and stands up to years of use.

Brownells New Products Week in Review for December 4, 2015

Product manager Paul Levy shares some of the new products this week at Brownells.

  • Magpul PMAG D-60 Drum Magazine – Lightweight, durable polymer magazine holds up to 60 rounds of 5.56/.223 ammunition for sustained firepower without a reload. Drum’s compact design allows for easy prone firing, and simplifies storage. Tension-relieving lever eases loading. Fits standard AR-15-style firearms, as well as HK416, MR556, M27 IAR and similar.
  • Bravo Company KMR Alpha Handguard – With many of the same advantages as the original KMR Handguard, the all-aluminum Alpha version weighs slightly more, but costs less. Handguard flares slightly toward the muzzle into special flat-bottomed shape that is comfortable and ergonomic, and helps give stability when shooting off a rest or barricade. Accepts KeyMod accessories at four offset positions, and free floats the barrel to help maximize accuracy potential.
    • 7″ KMR Alpha
    • 8″ KMR Alpha
    • 9″ KMR Alpha
    • 10″ KMR Alpha
    • 13″ KMR Alpha
    • 15″ KMR Alpha
  • Rapid Pure Trail Blazer Ultralight Camp Filter – Reservoir-style filter hangs up on a branch, pole or stand and uses gravity to help remove virtually all particles, impurities, microorganisms and viruses from water. Can be rolled up for easy storage in a pack or bag. Comes with 9-liter reservoir, long-threaded connector, sealing washers and tube for drinking or directing water into other containers. Filter unit length determines flow rate and average service life.

“I’ve known Dave for a good many years and know him to be a good smith and good person,” said John Harrison, President of Harrison Design and Consulting. “Any of us could be laid up sick, unable to work and earn for our families. We decided we wanted to do something to help Dave with his medical and living expenses.”

Raffle tickets are on sale through March 30, and limited to only 5,000 tickets. The drawing for the custom 1911 package will happen April 1, 2015.

Brownells Pushes EDGE Program at SHOT

edge_logoBrownells introduced their new loyalty and shipping program to the shooting industry at SHOT Show 2015.  Dubbed Brownells EDGE, members join by paying an annual $49.95 fee and, in return, get numerous benefits – think of it like Amazon Prime for gun stuff.

Brownells EDGE members get free standard domestic shipping on orders, discounts on expedited shipping and free return shipping.  The benefits to Brownells customers who order a lot of items are obvious.  Company CEO Pete Brownell (who is also a current NRA Board member and 2nd Vice President) even suggested that members who are debating between two products could order both, get them shipped for free, and return the one that they didn’t like.  It would seem like cheating if The Man himself hadn’t suggested it.

Brownells_01The EDGE benefits don’t stop at free or discounted shipping either.  Program members will also receive exclusive offers and discounts only available to those on The EDGE.  Mr. Brownell, in a radio interview during the SHOT Show, even mentioned that members may receive advanced notice of .22 rimfire ammunition coming into stock – a market in which he postulated that we may see shortages for another 18 months.

EdgeSTITo help get the ball rolling and build membership, Brownells is entering everyone who purchases a Brownells EDGE membership into a drawing for a chance to win an STI Edge .45 ACP 2011 pistol – valued at $2,180.

“We owe our longstanding success to being in tune with our customers,” said Brownells President/COO, Matt Buckingham. “We’ve heard customers asking for lower-cost shipping options, so we created Brownells EDGE. With just a few orders the membership fee easily pays for itself.”

More information can be found by visiting the Brownells EDGE webpage.
