NRA-ILA: Second Amendment Keeps Winning

via NRA-ILA

gunmedalWith a propaganda machine that only a billionaire can buy, Everytown for Gun Safety and its affiliated organizations continue to spread the falsehood that the anti-gun movement is gaining ground in the state legislatures.  As part of this “story of success,” they also attempt to argue that the tide of public opinion is shifting in favor of so-called “common-sense gun reform,” and that a majority of Americans support further restricting a fundamental right.

Of course, nothing could be further from the truth.

One need look no further than Missouri this week where Governor Jay Nixon’s veto of NRA priority legislation – Senate Bill 656 – was overridden by the legislature.

In addition to allowing law-abiding citizens to carry a firearm without a permit, Senate Bill 656:

  • Expands Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground protections;
  • Adds additional permit options to include extended and lifetime permits;
  • Specifies that with the exception of credit card fees, no additional fee beyond $100 may be charged to process concealed carry permits;
  • Allows members of the military extra time to renew their permits.

The passage of SB 656 makes Missouri the 11th state in the Union to enact permitless concealed carry, joining Idaho, Mississippi and West Virginia in enacting similar legislation this year.

Importantly, Everytown had engaged in a very aggressive campaign against Senate Bill 656, including airing misleading television ads, to derail the bill at every point in the legislative process. In the end, the legislature stood firm with Missouri’s law-abiding gun owners and against outside pressure brought to bear by Everytown and its affiliates.

The propaganda will continue, of this we can be sure. So let’s cut through some of Everytown’s nonsensical chatter with a short reality check.

Everytown claims that they Continue reading

Do We Really Have a Gun Problem? The Facts Don’t Lie.

Forget the Rhetoric.  Let’s Take a Look at the Cold, Hard Numbers

HomicideMortalityCDCEvery time some violent madman, such as the islamic terrorist who recently killed a club full of people in Orlando, happens to use a firearm to carry out their perverted mission, the anti-gun left intone their mantra of “you never want a serious crisis to go to waste” and spool up their rhetoric machine to incite fear and hand-wringing among the masses while they try to use emotion to push for new legislation.  “Something must be done about guns!,” they shout.  “Ban ‘assault rifles’!”  “We have a serious gun problem!”  But do we really?  The short answer is no, and here’s why…

People die.  That is how life works; it eventually draws to an end as the curtains close and we shuffle off this mortal coil.  When people die, it is from a variety of causes.  If you are into the macabre, try to catch some reruns of 1,000 Ways to Die – we will only be discussing this in the abstract.

FACT: More people have been shot and killed in Chicago so far this year than were killed by all types of rifles in all of 2014.

Hillary Clinton to Attack Gun Owners Her “Very First Day” in Office

HillaryClinton_TestimonyBenghaziVia NRA-ILA Grassroots Alerts.

In what has become as reliable as clockwork, with the passing of another week comes another Hillary Clinton attack on gun owners. This time, the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination explained to supporters her intent to make an assault on gun rights and NRA one of her top priorities. A video of her comments has been distributed by Breitbart.com and can be viewed by clicking here.

Addressing an April 25 MSNBC “townhall” hosted by left-wing commentator Rachel Maddow, Clinton stated, “I really support everything President Obama said he would do through regulation on guns but we’re going to start the very first day and tackle the gun lobby to try to reduce the outrageous number of people who are dying from gun violence in our country.”

Later, the candidate spoke of her party’s chances of taking control of the Senate, stating,

The Democrats have decided they will be led by Chuck Schumer and Chuck Schumer has been one of the most effective legislators in taking on the gun lobby. He and I worked together to get the Brady bill passed way back in my husband’s administration. So I think that it’s the kind of issue you have to start early, you have to work on it every day and we need to make it a voting issue.

A visibly agitated Clinton concluded her remarks on the subject by noting, “I’m going to keep talking about it, and we are going to make it clear that this has to be a voting issue. If you care about this issue, vote against people who give in to the NRA and the gun lobby all the time.”   Continue reading

NRA’s “Freedom’s Safest Place” Commercial

We have been seeing these during select programming in our market.  Have you seen NRA’s TV ads lately?

The Hollywood celebrities, political elites and billionaires who attack the Second Amendment want to take our God-given freedom away. Yet at the core of the Second Amendment is the eternal truth that no life is more worthy of armed protection than another. The National Rifle Association fights for the protection of these liberties. The NRA is Freedom’s Safest Place.

NRA Launches Television Ad Against Bloomberg’s Gun Control Agenda

The National Rifle Association aired its first political ad of the 2016 presidential campaign season during Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate.   The 30-second spot targeted gun control advocate and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the candidates whom he may back.

The NRA says that this ad is the first step in a multi-phased effort to remind voters of Bloomberg’s disdain for freedom and his agenda to taking away our Second Amendment rights.  The gun rights organization is expected to spend around $1 million on the ad, which will run on Fox News, CNN and on local television in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.  All three are home to early presidential primaries or caucuses.  The ad will also appear digitally in those states as well as South Carolina – another early primary state.

Previous political efforts by the NRA’s political arms (and, by extension, their many members at the polls) have been largely successful and they hope to see more success in defeating anti-gun candidates in the 2016 elections.

NRA-ILA: Stop ATF’s Ammo Ban

Urge Your U.S. Representative to Sign Congressional Letter to ATF on Proposed Ammo Ban

M855 LinkedAs NRA has been reporting since the night the news broke, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) is moving to infringe upon the rights of law-abiding gun owners with a drastic reinterpretation of a nearly 30-year-old law regulating so-called “armor piercing” ammunition. So draconian is BATFE’s new “Framework” that it would prohibit the manufacturing, importation, and sale of M855 ball ammunition, one of the most popular cartridges for the most popular rifle in America, the AR-15. Not coincidentally, the AR-15 is among the firearms the Obama Administration has unsuccessfully sought to outlaw. If they can’t ban the pie, so the thinking apparently goes, they might at least get the apples.

In an effort to thwart BATFE’s attempted action, NRA has worked with U.S. Representative Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, to draft a letter to BATFE expressing the lawmakers’ opposition to the proposed Framework. To read a copy of the letter, please click this link.

According to the letter, “The idea that Congress intended [the ‘armor piercing’ ammunition law] to ban one of the preeminent rifle cartridges in use by Americans for legitimate purposes is preposterous.” It goes on to state that the law “should be construed in accordance with the Continue reading
