Knob Creek Spring 2013 Machine Gun Shoot Photos

Another great turnout at the spring 2013 Machine Gun Shoot at Knob Creek Gun Range in West Point, KY last weekend.  “Panic buying” still being in full swing and consumers willing to pay top dollar for guns and ammo kept prices high, so there weren’t too many great deals to be found, but it was still a lot of fun.

Here are the first batch of photos from the shoot.  We will also be posting these photos, along with others, in the event thread on the GunLink Forums. Continue reading

National Rifle Association Selected to Produce Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, PA

After the flap that ensued from the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show earlier this year following the decision by Reed Exhibitions, managers of the NSSF SHOT Show, to ban the sale or display of modern sporting rifles, many thought that it might be a death knell for the show.  Fear not, fans of the outdoor sporting show – the National Rifle Association has stepped in to continue the Harisburg tradition with a new name and less knee-jerk anti-rights attitude:

SHOT Business magazine, the trade magazine for the shooting, hunting and firearms industry, has named U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) as its 2012 SHOT Business Person of the Year.

Mitt Romney’s selection of Ryan as his vice presidential running mate was widely supported by hunters and recreational shooters. A former co-chair of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus and an avid outdoorsman, Ryan has worked on behalf of sportsmen and wildlife throughout his tenure in Congress. His ongoing and future efforts will continue to play an important role in preserving America’s hunting, shooting and conservation heritage. Continue reading

DiFi’s List of Endorsements for the “Assault Weapons” Ban of 2013

Perpetual opponent of the US Constitution Dianne Feinstein has posted a convenient list of enemies of basic human rights protected by the Second Amendment on her official website.  This list is posted below, along with the ironic oath of office taken by US Senators take upon entering office.

US Senate Oath of Office

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.

Keep Your Skills Sharp with New Dry Fire Practice Accessories

TLB1In a perfect world, we would all be able to hit the range a couple times a week for some target practice and burn through a couple hundred rounds of ammunition to keep our drawing and shooting skills honed.  Even without skyrocketing ammo prices (when you can find ammo, that is) this still requires packing up all your gear, traveling back and forth to the range and cleaning everything once you’re finished.  Dry firing practice at home can be a useful way to practice drawing, trigger pulling and manipulating firearm controls while saving your ammo and range fees, but it isn’t quite as good as the real thing.

We got a chance to look at a number of products at SHOT Show 2013 that provide a happy medium between range time and standard dry fire practice.  These products include the Beamhit line from L-3 (think EOTech), Top Gun computer-aided shooting training system from Op.Electronics and the Laser Trainer line from Laserlyte, each of which allows you to train at home with your own (unloaded!) firearm. Chronicle of Gun Rights War Should be Required Reading for Second Amendment Supporters

Neal Knox - The Gun Rights War, CoverIf you pay much attention to gun writers, the name Knox should be familiar to you.  Likewise, if you pay much attention to the history of the battle for our rights protected by the Second Amendment, the name should also be familiar.  Readers of Shotgun News have almost certainly come across regular columns by Jeff and Chris Knox.  If you don’t read SGN, you may have seen The Knox Update online, perused Chris or Jeff‘s blogs or followed their work with Second Amendment organizations like The Firearms Coalition.  The brothers even recently shared a by-line in USA Today who, unsurprisingly, given the publication’s anti-rights position, filed it under “Opposing View.”

Many, however, may not be aware that the Knox brothers are carrying on the tradition of their forebear.  Some might not be familiar with the writings of Chris and Jeff’s father, Neal , whom the gun rights community lost in 2005.  After his tenure in the Texas National Guard and some other freelance writing gigs, Neal Knox began selling some of his articles to industry publications like Guns & Ammo and Guns before founding his own publication, Gun Week.  Later in his writing career, Neal would also serve as editor for Handloader Magazine and Rifle Magazine.

Neal Knox’s work in the world of firearms wasn’t confined to covering them for glossy (or otherwise) publications, however.  A hard-nose supporter of the founding fathers’ ideal that the Second Amendment merely protected an inborn right possessed by all humans, he did Continue reading
