FN Announces Release of FN SCAR 20S Precision Rifle
FN America, LLC is pleased to announce the release of the highly-anticipated FN SCAR® 20S precision rifle, based on the FN MK20 SSR or Sniper Support Rifle currently fielded within USSOCOM. The 7.62x51mm-chambered rifle has been purpose-built to achieve superior long-range accuracy.
“The FN SCAR® 20S is the latest addition to our battle-proven line-up of FN SCAR products and the first commercial SCAR release since we launched the 17S in 2010,” said Mark Cherpes, President and CEO for FN America, LLC. “Customers will notice that the FN SCAR 20S shares more commonalities than differences with the MK20 SSR and reaffirms our commitment to producing commercial versions of our iconic military firearms.”
The rifle achieves 1-MOA (minute of angle) accuracy to 100 yards with match-grade ammunition out of the box. The 20-inch, 1:12 twist, heavy profile barrel and barrel extension, and extended, monolithic receiver add the additional rigidity that reduces fluctuation or movement between shots while the extended receiver provides the much-needed rail space for high-powered optics. The custom-designed MK20 SSR buttstock adjusts to length of pull and comb height to customize the fit to each shooter while in the prone firing position, and the factory-installed, double-stage Geissele Super SCAR trigger achieves a 3.5-4.5-pound trigger pull.
Technical Specifications:
- Caliber: 7.62x51mm
- Barrel Length: 20 inches
- Barrel Twist Rate: 1:12
- Weight: 11.2 pounds
- O/A Length: 40.6 – 42.5 inches

Franklin Armory Announces BFSIII Binary Trigger for AK Platform
Firearms manufacturer, Franklin Armory, has successfully adapted the patented Generation 3 Binary Firing System™ to the AK Platform. Prototype triggers have undergone substantial field testing, and the final configuration will be placed into production soon. The BFSIII for the AK platform is slated to start shipping the first quarter of 2019. Pre-Orders for theBFSIII for AK will begin on October 19th.
Franklin Armory President, Jay Jacobson, stated, “The Franklin Armory engineering and design staff have really worked hard to create a fabulous BFSIII for AK that works in as many AK platforms as possible. Given the variety of clones out on the market, this was no small task.”
Fast on the heels of their previous release of the BFSIII for CZ Scorpion; Franklin Armory proves again to be the premier manufacturer of Binary triggers with six models currently available.
The Gen 3 Binary Firing System was released for the AR platform in August of 2016. All BFSIII triggers feature a three-mode safety selector. Mode 1 is “Safe.” Mode 2 is “Semi” for semiautomatic. And Mode 3 is “Binary” mode. In Binary mode, the firearm will discharge one round on the pull of the trigger and one round on the release of the trigger. All BFSIII models feature the ability to negate the release round in Binary mode by modulating the safety selector back to “Semi” mode or “Safe.” Additionally, all BFSIII are engineered to prevent the operator from modulating the selector to “Binary” mode while holding the trigger back in “Semi” mode.
MSRP is currently $499.99.
Remington Introduces Semi-Auto Non-NFA 12ga with 13″ Barrel
Company says V3 TAC-13 Represents Ultimate in Compact Personal Defense
Remington’s advanced, patented gas-operated system now available with a 13″ barrel and a Birdshead pistol grip, maintaining an OAL of greater than 26″, allowing it to escape the purview of NFA regulation as a short barreled shotgun or AOW.
The V3 Tac-13 is based off the VersaPort gas system. The Remington V3 Tac-13 cycles all 2 ¾ to 3-inch 12 gauge loads while reducing recoil to what Remington calls “a level previously unheard of in autoloaders.” All that comes with a price, however, with the Tac-13 commanding an MSRP just north of $900.
Remington TAC-13 Features:
- Birdshead Pistol Grip – Allows for more ergonomic hold to help control the firearm and reduce recoil for the shooter.
- Hand Strap – User adjustable to help control muzzle flip and improve handling characteristics.
- Lightweight Aluminum Receiver – For easy, comfortable transport anywhere.
- 13″ Light Contour Barrel – Compact and easy to carry anytime its needed
- Reliable Feeding – Gas system optimized to run common light field loads or full power buck and slug and anything in between
- Low Recoil – Patented Versaport gas system is self regulating and offers very manageable recoil in a compact package
- Self Cleaning – Self-cleaning gas piston system greatly reduces time required for cleaning. With fewer parts than conventional gas systems, not only is cleaning easier but there are fewer parts to maintain.
