Anti-Gun Group Encourages Misuse of 911 System, Police Resources

csgv911The unsurprising revelation that their members are obsessed with penises and penis size isn’t the only thing to be gleaned from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence’s (CSGV) Facebook page.  The zealous gun control group is also apparently using social media to encourage the misuse of the 911 system to further their political goals.

The CSGV – formerly known as National Coalition to Ban Handguns (NCBH) – posted the following to their Facebook page:  “If you see someone carrying a gun in public and have ANY doubts as to their intentions, call 911. Never put your safety–or the safety of your children and loved ones–at the mercy of weak gun laws that allow individuals to buy and carry guns with little, if any, screening for criminal and/or mental health background.

Several of their Facebook fans, seemingly struggling to suppress small flashes of independent thought, are assisted by the CSGV in follow-up comments.

One hoplophobic poster, apparently concerned about using up all of their cell phone minutes, says that “the problem with that is that whenever I see someone carrying a gun in public I have doubts about their intentions and my safety.”  The gun-ban advocacy group encourages them:  “Then call 911. That’s the point.

Another poster seems to get slightly further in the thought process, nearly glomming on to some genuine common sense.  “Has anyone here actually called 911 to report someone with a gun? I have and was told that there is nothing illegal about having a gun and that was the end of the conversation,” she posts.  Having no apparent interest in something so petty as the rule of law, CSGV replies that this is an “unacceptable response” and urges the poster to “work up the chain on your next call.”    Continue reading

NRA Launches Television Ad Against Bloomberg’s Gun Control Agenda

The National Rifle Association aired its first political ad of the 2016 presidential campaign season during Thursday night’s Republican presidential debate.   The 30-second spot targeted gun control advocate and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the candidates whom he may back.

The NRA says that this ad is the first step in a multi-phased effort to remind voters of Bloomberg’s disdain for freedom and his agenda to taking away our Second Amendment rights.  The gun rights organization is expected to spend around $1 million on the ad, which will run on Fox News, CNN and on local television in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.  All three are home to early presidential primaries or caucuses.  The ad will also appear digitally in those states as well as South Carolina – another early primary state.

Previous political efforts by the NRA’s political arms (and, by extension, their many members at the polls) have been largely successful and they hope to see more success in defeating anti-gun candidates in the 2016 elections.

The Gun Control Machine’s Brain Trust of Astroturf Sleeper Agents Awaken

The robots have received the signal – MSM coverage of a shooting in public – and the hand-wringing, NRA blaming, and gun control pushing has begun.

Nevermind that the latest incident in the Tennessee, as with most of these incidents, happened in a gun free zone.  Nevermind the fact that Tennessee residents have been worried about their safety since at least 2010 because of the theater’s “no guns allowed” policy.  And nevermind the fact that early reports indicate that, despite shots being fired, the only injuries during the incident were from the scumbag discharging some pepper spray and trying to hatchet someone.

Without further ado, let’s look at some of the buzz that immediately swamped Twitter immediately following the attack…  Continue reading

Another Gun-Free Zone, Another Group of Victims

What exactly are these laws and policies protecting?

No Guns AllowedIt is difficult to watch the news without becoming outraged – both at the stories of senseless violence carried out by crazed madmen as well as at the spin applied to those stories by certain groups in order to further their agenda.  How many times are we going to hear about (or not) defenseless citizens, disarmed by “well intentioned,” “common sense” firearm policies, being turned into victims at the hands of criminals who, by their very nature, will disregard any and all laws or policies that get in their way?

Everyone has, no doubt, seen the news stories about our servicemen murdered by a radical Islamist, unable to protect themselves due to no-guns-allowed policies.  This cold blooded murder came just days before another lunatic murdered two innocent moviegoers and wounded nine others at a Louisiana theater.  The theater policy explicitly states that “possession of firearms or weapons of any kind regardless of whether openly or concealed, with or without a permit” is strictly prohibited.  Sadly, although that policy may have stopped licensed concealed carry or legal open carry practitioners from bringing a means of self defense into the theater that night, it did not prevent the armed madman from bringing his weapon.  That attack came nearly three years to the day after another madman murdered 12 and injured dozens more in another “gun free” theater in Colorado.    Continue reading

And So it Begins… Lexington and Concord

Minute_ManAs Independence Day fast approaches, Americans are gearing up for a long weekend.  Maybe some time off from work, a barbecue, some frosty cold beverages, fireworks, time well spent with family, and other red-blooded patriotic American festivities.  We’re certain that many will also be celebrating the 239th anniversary of the adoption of The United States’ Declaration of Independence by exercising the right to keep and bear arms and burning up some gun powder at the shooting range.  Perhaps a fitting observance, considering some of the events that ignited the American Revolution and fueled the forge that made this nation what it is today.

As a tribute, this week we will be posting some patriotic stuff.  Because… America!

In the mid-1770s, after some uppity American colonists threw a bunch of tea into the Boston Harbor as a protest over the Tea Act’s “taxation without representation,” the British government tried to spank them with the Intolerable Acts.  Well, those free spirited early American men didn’t much care for that, so they began taking steps to resist Brit control, such as passing the Suffolk Resolves and creating the Massachusetts Provincial Congress.  Not about to take any guff from those yanks, the British government declared Massachusetts to be in a state of rebellion and, as oppressors often do with those they want to control, decided to disarm the people.  Nihil novi sub sole, right?

It was on their way to capture and destroy militia supplies that, under secret orders, approximately 700 British Army regulars under the command of Lt. Col. Francis Smith marched – by way of Lexington – on Concord.  There, at the North Bridge, 400 or so militiamen engaged a contingent of the British regulars, driving them back to Concord proper where the rest of their force was searching for arms to confiscate before being forced to withdraw, first back to Lexington – where shots had been fired earlier in the day – and then, along with their reinforcements, back to Boston.  That day, April 19, 1775, the battles of Lexington and Concord marked the first military engagements of the American Revolutionary War and put us on the path to becoming the nation that we are today.

Some 62 years later, Ralph Waldo Emerson penned the Concord Hymn for the dedication of the memorial at the North Bridge to commemorate “the shot heard ’round the world:”   Continue reading
