Buy, Sell and Trade on the GunLink Marketplace

Marketplace PrizesIt is no secret that many companies are anti-gun.  There are stories about PayPal freezing accounts used to purchase firearms accessories.  eBay seems to selectively police what is and is not allowed for sale on their website on a whim.  Amazon recently announced changes that will allow fewer types of firearms accessories to be listed for sale.  Facebook disallows firearms related advertising and, along with Instagram, is cracking down on private sales of firearms.  If you have ever tried to post wanted or for sale ads for  firearms or accessories on Craig’s List, you know that they are almost immediately flagged and deleted.

Putting aside the politics and the theory that this is just more propaganda to demonize anything related to firearms, it makes it difficult to complete legitimate, individual, private sales of firearms and accessories.  Let’s say you have a box of holsters you don’t use or a firearm you no longer shoot or magazines for a rifle you no longer own.  How can you sell your items if you can not list them on eBay or Amazon to get widespread exposure or even Facebook or Craig’s List for the local crowd?  This is a familiar, frustrating experience for many people in the market to buy or sell firearms and firearms related accessories.

All hope is not lost, however.  The recently-opened GunLink Marketplace is a section of the online GunLink Forums with sections to post for sale, wanted and wanted to trade ads for legal transactions between private individuals.  Forum members are able to post their buy/sell/trade announcements in the forums, communicate with the other parties to the transaction, view and leave feedback and more.

As a bonus, since the GunLink Marketplace is brand new, to get things started we are even offering an opportunity to win some prizes just for posting your ad.  For a limited time, when you post a buy/sell/trade ad in the GunLink Marketplace, you will be entered for a chance to win some great prizes like firearm-related stickers and patches, knives, flash drives, paracord gear and more.

GunLink Makes Twitter Top 50 List

The Shooting 50Just in time for the 2014 iteration of the NSSF SHOT Show, GunLink made the cut on Wide Open Spaces’ The Shooting 50: Top Twitter Accounts to Follow in the Firearm Industry, which they describe as their “list of the most influential Twitter profiles in the firearms industry.”  To be sure, we’re in good company.

The list includes firearms manufacturers like Colt, Beretta, Bushmaster and Glock; personalities like Ted Nugent, Willie Robertson and Masad Ayoob; organizations like NRA, NSSF and GOA, gearheads like ITS Tactical and 5.11; shooting stars like Dustin Ellerman, Kim Rhode, Chris Cheng and Gabby Franco; and, of course, yours truly.

Find GunLink on Twitter @GunLink.  The rest of the top 50 are listed and linked to in the article above.

GunLink Ads Make Their Way to Blog

Alright, we’ve got ads on the blog now.  Our advertisers should be happy.  We’ve also tried to keep them as unobtrusive (for those of you in Rio Linda – that means they’re out of the way) as possible, so readers should be happy too.

If you’re one of our advertisers: the blog ads currently work the same way as they do across the rest of the site as far as selection and impressions go.  We will incorporating blog advertising into our overall advertising program and possibly adding new advertising options.  If you are interested in starting a new advertising campaign on GunLink or changing your current campaign details, contact us at advertising at GunLink.info

We’re just trying this out temporarily for now, so they may not be there for long.  We will be working various options as we get the ball rolling on this new site feature, so don’t be surprised if you see some things changing.  As usual, we’d love to hear feedback on our progress.

Welcome to the GunLink Blog – The Online Firearms Portal

Well, here we are.  We’ve kicked around the idea for a while of having a GunLink blog and we’ve finally got around to adding one.

It should be useful on several levels.  Currently, new GunLink articles get posted on the GunLink Forums, which can make them more difficult for the average user who might not be a forum member to access.  For the time being, we have several options that we’re going to explore.

The first option is to post articles on both the forums and on the blog.  This would probably make the articles the most accessible but would also take up the most time (for posting, formatting, etc) only to duplicate material.  Alternatively, we can post original articles (and links to 3rd part articles) on the blog, where they would be easy to find, and post a link to the blog entry on the forum so forum users know about the new materials.  Another option would be to flip-flop that and have the articles on the forum and a brief description and a link on the blog.  Personally, I think the second option makes the most sense, but we’re open to suggestions.  Feel free to let us know what you think in blog comments, forum posts or via Twitter.
