Strip Gun Club Offers Unique Shooting Experience on Las Vegas Strip

Strip Gun Club Custom M3HBDuring SHOT Show 2013 we had a chance to take a break from the show floor and visit Las Vegas’ newest firearms-oriented addition.  Opening in early December 2012, the Strip Gun Club, which describes itself as the “first and only shooting range on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip,”  offers a high-end shooting experience for visiting shooters and locals alike.

The double doors at the front of the building (featuring rifle- and pistol-themed handles) give way to a well appointed lobby/gift shop complete with hardwood floors, attractive furnishings and a gun safe protected by the door of a bank safe allegedly knocked over by John Dillinger himself.  The place is decidedly a touch classier than many other shooting ranges I’ve been to.

The point of a shooting range, however, is not the decor – however nice it may be here.  Strip Gun Club offers seven shooting lanes divided among Continue reading

Bullpup .22LR Pistol from ZiPFactory Keeps Plinkers Within Budget

ZiP .22 pistolZiPFactory, an offshoot of US Fire Arms (USFA), was at SHOT 2013 and they brought with them their ZiP .22.  This bullpup pistol doesn’t have a slide, an ejector or an extractor.  This allows the number of parts in the entire firearm (in the basic configuration) to limited to only 25.  It also allows the MSRP to be kept just shy of $200.

The company is marketing the ambidexterous ZiP .22 as being highly modular with the ability to use it as a pistol, an SBR or as an accessory mounted under another firearm.  The pistol also makes use of ubiquitous (and supremely reliable) Ruger 10/22 magazines, even offering the 10-round Ruger BX-1 rotary magazine as a factory accessory for an additional $20.  The blowback operated ZiP .22 also relies on the feed lips of the magazine to act as an ejector.  As such, it may be advisable to Continue reading

February 8 Rally to Spread Second Amendment Message Nationwide

Feb 8, 2013 Second Amendment RallyWe first heard about the nationwide Second Amendment rally through a flyer that someone gave us at SHOT Show 2013 and now word of the rally is spreading like wildfire with more than 13,000 Facebook users confirming their attendance.

Nationwide 2nd Amendment Rally
Friday, February 8, 2013 – 10AM
At YOUR capitol building

The peaceful protest is slated to take place at every state capitol across the country on Friday, the eighth of February at 10AM at each state’s respective capitol building, although we have heard buzz that some locations have had to reschedule for various reasons (e.g. Maryland moved to February 6).

Keep spreading the word so that all Second Amendment advocates have the opportunity to attend.  We’ve started a thread for the event on the GunLink Forums for users to discuss the event, arrange transportation, share information, pictures and more.

Vendors Flee from Harrisburg Show Following Rifle, Magazine Prohibition

UPDATE 2: ESOS ‘Postponed’

As per the statement posted on the ESOS website, Reed Exhibitions has indefinitely ‘postponed’ the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg, PA.  The National Shooting Sports Foundation, owners of SHOT Show (also managed by Reed), have also released a statement calling the Reed/ESOS decision ‘unacceptable’ and stating that they are “considering all options regarding the management of future SHOT Shows.”  Find the full statements and discussion in the GunLink Forums thread regarding this topic.

The “World’s Foremost Outfitter” is pulling out of the largest consumer hunting, fishing and outdoor show in North America due to a change in policies regarding certain types of firearms at the show.  Cabela’s move started what is now turning into a landslide as more than 60 vendors have dropped out of the Eastern Sports and Outdoors Show in Harrisburg, PA.

ESS organizers, UK-based Reed Exhibitions (who also manage the NSSF SHOT Show), made a decision not to allow the display or sale of so-called “assault weapons” or “high capacity” magazines, sharing the following statement on the show website: Continue reading

POPVOX Makes it Easy to Tell Congress You Oppose Gun Control

You have to hand it to them – if the gun control crowd is anything, they’re consistent.  Or maybe predictable is a better word.  No matter which adjective you use for them, their unceasing efforts to trample Second Amendment rights are undeniable.  They are a motivated and largely organized group and if we want to preserve our rights we must also be motivated and organized.  We cannot sit idly by while a vocal minority peppers our representatives with calls to incrementally (or not-so-incrementally) degrade our rights.

There are a number of online tools, provided by organizations like GOA and NRA, which allow you to find out who your representatives are and contact them.  There is a relatively new resource called POPVOX (from the latin vox populi – the voice of the people) that users can take advantage of to express their opinions to their legislators.  While POPVOX has been around for a couple years, it has recently been gaining in popularity and is a perfect opportunity for supporters of the Second Amendment to voice their feelings on pending gun control measures.  To find current gun control issues and weigh in on them using POPVOX, visit The Official GunLink POPVOX Thread To Oppose Gun Control Legislation on the GunLink Forums or visit speakup.GunLink.info.

Comments and opinions left via POPVOX are delivered to your Representative and/or Senators in Congress electronically (or by hand when Continue reading
