Hi-Point Firearms Voluntarily Ceases Operations Temporarily Due to COVID-19
Statement from Hi-Point regarding work during the COVID-19 outbreak:
The state of Ohio and other states have organized complete business shutdowns due to Covid 19 situation. However, Ohio where Hi-Point is located is designated as a select or strategic business, therefore in Ohio, firearm manufacturing is exempted from closure.
The management of Hi-Point has chosen to voluntarily shut down and perform preventative work until April 6th. This also gives Hi-Point Employees time off to self-quarantine and be with their families.
MKS Supply, the exclusive marketeer of Hi-Point is following this same program. MKS Supply will continue to monitor business orders for Hi-Points in stock but will have a reduced output until April 6.
So, what can gun owners do since even going to the range is a potential no no? Well, now might be the time to sit down in front of the tele with some outdoor show on and do some firearms cleaning you have put off. We all know cleaning guns is the “best part of shooting”-huh? That’s why we do it all the time. But this really is a good time to get shooting gear well maintained and maybe even, and this takes courage for some of us, organize our shooting gear and shooting boxes for more convenience for when we get to go to the range.
Also, we expect to see some of the best-looking lawns in years across the country this coming spring as self-isolating people get out and garden in the fresh air during this pandemic.

Hi Point Changes Up Their Pistol Line. Finally.
Aside from being big, bulky, heavy, and ugly (all true), one of the main beefs that people have with the budget-friendly firearm brand HiPoint is the low capacity (also true). Their line of pistols and pistol caliber carbines have always featured a limited capacity single stack magazine despite the wide grips. That changes now.
For two decades, the Model C9 – a blowback operated polymer-framed 9mm pistol with Zamak slide – has been the company’s flagship handgun. Throughout that time, the Hi-Point product line has seen precious few changes aside from the addition of new calibers and cosmetic features. This includes the stock flush-fit 8-round magazine capacity that C9 owners have always been limited by.
At SHOT Show 2019 in Las Vegas, the Ohio-based company introduced their latest pistol offering – a higher capacity 9mm with a few new features that will be appreciated by those who don’t immediately turn up their nose at the inexpensive firearms. Hi-Point is quick to point out that the new handgun is not just a tweaked version of their existing pistols but, rather, is an entirely new firearm with a more contemporary design that they say will stick with the company’s affordable pricing structure.
Currently in what they are calling a “stealth prototype” phase, the company had 3D printed rapid prototypes on display in their booth to demonstrate the size and features of the new pistol, which boasts a higher capacity magazine, threaded barrel, improved slide and grip geometry. Continue reading
Mossberg Joins Gun Manufacturers Cutting Ties with Dicks Sporting Goods
Dick’s Sporting Goods is continuing their anti-gun procession and firearms manufacturers and Second Amendment advocates are noticing.
First, they came for America’s Rifle (when they decided to stop selling AR-15 style firearms). Then they came for good business sense (when they decided to destroy their bought-and-paid existing stock of such firearms). Then they came for the young adults (when they decided not to sell any firearms to legal purchasers between the ages of 18-20). Most recently, they are coming for the Second Amendment as a whole (by hiring a team of anti-gun lobbyists to push gun control in Washington).
Today, Mossberg – alongside Springfield Armory and Hi-Point Firearms – joined the ranks of companies abandoning their business relationship with the retailer. We’re happy to see those in the $51.4 billion-and-growing industry standing up against alleged industry-partners who are actively working to do them harm and hope to see more jumping on board. It is time to stick together and let businesses know that they won’t let businesses stab them in the back and run roughshod over their livelihoods, rights, hobbies, and passions. Just look at the backlash over the YETI fiasco.
While the other companies may be more well known firearms with the potential to draw Dick’s unwarranted ire, the decision by Mossberg – who is known for their shotguns and rifles that may be more palatable to the sporting goods chain’s delicate sensibilities – might hit Dick’s, and their Field & Stream subsidiary – a little harder in the pocketbook. Mossberg Terminates Relationship with Dick’s Sporting Goods
O.F. Mossberg & Sons, Inc., a leading American firearms manufacturer, announced today its decision
to discontinue selling products to Dick’s Sporting Goods, and its subsidiary, Field & Stream, in response to their hiring of gun control lobbyists in April 2018.
Effective immediately, O.F. Mossberg & Sons will not accept any future orders from Dick’s Sporting Goods or Field & Stream, and is in the process of evaluating current contractual agreements.
“It has come to our attention that Dick’s Sporting Goods recently hired lobbyists on Capitol Hill to promote additional gun control.” said Iver Mossberg, Chief Executive Officer of O.F. Mossberg & Sons. “Make no mistake, Mossberg is a staunch supporter of the U.S. Constitution and our Second Amendment rights, and we fully disagree with Dick’s Sporting Goods’ recent anti-Second Amendment actions.”

Hi Point Firearms founder Tom Deeb Dies

Founder and former owner of Hi Point Firearms, Tom Deeb, died Monday. We had heard rumors about his passing, but it was confirmed by the company on Facebook today.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of “Tom” Deeb, founder and former owner of Hi-Point Firearms on March 21, 2016. Tom was enjoying semi-retirement in Texas. The loss that is felt by his family (several of whom work at Hi-Point Firearms), and his many friends, cannot be put into words.
Tom was an extraordinarily smart and accomplished entrepreneur who built a company that still represents the fair practices and honest principles he implemented in establishing it.
Tom was involved in many organizations. He most enjoyed working with his many friends, law enforcement personnel, and The Association of Firearm and Tool Mark Examiners (AFTE).
Tom had an unwavering desire to always do the right thing, and this principle will be continued by the current Hi-Point owner Mike Strassell, who has been a business partner with Tom for 30 years.
We will pass along additional information in accordance with the family’s wishes.
