Next Edition of Firearms Guide Packs Even More Info Than Before
After a few hiccups with the release date, the long-awaited 3rd Edition of the Firearms Guide is finally available. I spoke with Chris from Impressum Media, creators of the Multimedia Firearms Guide, at the 2012 SHOT Show earlier this year where he told me of the coming updates. During the show, Chris had anticipated the release within a few weeks, which turned into early March, which turned into late March and then early May. The wait is over and users now have access to detailed information on ammunition and firearms from over 250 manufacturers spanning 38 countries totaling over 55,000 entries. The creators tout the Firearms Guide 3rd Edition as “the most extensive firearms, ammo and air guns reference guide and schematics library.”
The Firearms Guide isn’t just a list of guns, either. The entries include a great deal of detail including price, manufacturer info, barrel length, sight radius, caliber, features list and more. This volume of information could easily overwhelm you if it were not so easy to navigate. Entries can be searched for by name or narrowed down by selecting from 14 different criteria – including caliber, country of origin, price, action and more. Continue reading

Governor Opposes Judge on Self Defense Handgun Issue
S&W Takes on Taurus in the Big, Multi-Caliber Revolver Category
Love it or hate it, The Taurus Judge has been around for a while now. In case you’ve been under a rock (or if you just ignored those strange looking things in the corner of your gun shop’s case), the Judge, pictured at right, is a Taurus revolver capable of firing both .410 shotgun shells and .45 Colt rounds. Taurus also offers other flavors of Judge revolvers which can add .454 Casull rounds into the mix. The revolver, formerly model 4410, gained the Judge moniker in 2006 after Taurus Executive VP Bob Morrison learned that the firearm was becoming popular for courtroom self-defense with judges in high-crime areas.
The Judge line of revolvers is marketed as a short-distance self defense firearm and is also enjoying some popularity as a “snake gun” or “rat gun.” Despite numerous critics of the platform, the Judge line seems to be selling briskly and is reported to have become Taurus’ top selling firearm. Perhaps to the chagrin of those critics, Smith & Wesson has entered the market with their answer to the Judge: the cleverly named Governor, which also fires .45 Colt and 2.5″ .410 cartridges but also introduces the ability to fire .45ACP rounds.
To be sure, the idea of a big, heavy revolver that can shoot a variety of big, heavy ammunition isn’t Continue reading
GunLink Directory Helps Promote Firearms and Gear Related Businesses
The GunLink website has numerous facets, most of which have been added due to feedback from visitors as the site has grown. In addition to a blog with firearms news, product reviews, event coverage and more, GunLink offers forums for general discussion (firearms related or otherwise), user generated reviews, a Second Amendment grassroots meeting place and more. We are currently working on re-seller programs for firearms related software and other products and, again based on visitor feedback, are considering the addition of a classified ads section for firearms and accessories.
With all of these more recent additions, we don’t want to forget the single purpose for which GunLink was created; the feature from which our site takes its name. GunLink started out as a business directory for firearms related businesses. Basically, a link to guns …hence the GunLink moniker.

Free Downloadable Pistol Correction Targets
Get in the Ten Ring In No Time With These Free Targets
Having trouble getting your pistol rounds to go where you want them to? There are many factors that go into becoming a proficient handgun shooter. After perfecting (or, at least, moderately developing) core shooting principles like safety, stance, sight alignment and consistency it’s time to dial in other fundamentals like proper grip, trigger finger position, trigger pull/squeeze and work on consistency, proper breathing, not flinching, etc.
GunLink is here to help with free targets that you can download and print to help diagnose and remedy some common issues that pistol shooters face. Whether you are a pistol pro, a handgun hack or a revolver rookie, these targets are a great tool to troubleshoot your rounds right into the ten ring. Developed from data in the United States Army Marksmanship Training Unit Manual, the UIT (now ISSF) pistol book by John Chandler and the Target Pistol Shot Analysis documents from Target Shooting Canada, these targets are perfect for anyone wanting to improve or maintain their pistol shooting abilities. We have had good results using these targets to correct bad shooting practices and have got positive feedback from forum users who have tried them.
These targets are not just for live fire practice, either. If you have a laser training tool or a laser sight that lets you see where your dry-fire “shots” go, these targets are a valuable resource. Print off a target, aim at the bullseye, and pay attention to where your laser beam goes. GunLink staff keeps at least one spare in our range bag for reference to compare to where shots impact when shooting any target. Download and print the targets below.

Mossberg Breaks into AR15 Scene with 11 New Rifles
O.F. Mossberg & Sons slipped into the AR-15 platform market largely under the radar last summer when they unveiled their Mossberg Modern Rifle (MMR) line of rifles alongside their line of MVP bolt-action varmint rifles which accept AR-15 magazines. It is clear that Mossberg sees the obvious and growing interest in this platform, but with the current near-saturation of the AR market, both for complete rifles as well as aftermarket accessories, it may be a tough market for a new player to break in to. The veteran hunting rifle and shotgun manufacturer needs to bring a lot to the table.
Mossberg’s play may be all in the marketing, though. Along with the relative newcomer R15 from Remington, these camo-ed up AR-15s may be just what the doctor ordered to bring together two of the supposedly divided factions of gun owners: the hunting and sporting purpose crowd and the devout pro-Second Amendment crowd. Examples of such divisions can be seen in Continue reading
