Apex Announces New Hellcat Trigger

The Springfield Hellcat – a pocket-sized 9mm with the capacity of a larger pistol – is flying across shelves across the nation, and the aftermarket hop-up parts are starting to hit the market to go along with them.

Apex Tactical Specialties is pleased to announce the introduction and upcoming release of its new Action Enhancement Trigger for the hugely popular Hellcat pistol from Springfield Armory. Starting at just $79.95, the package includes an Apex Action Enhancement Trigger, Apex Sear Spring and Apex Striker Spring, which, when installed, significantly improves the feel of the trigger pull while reducing trigger travel and pull weight to that appropriate for a duty or carry pistol.

The new trigger will be available in Black, Red, Thin Blue Line, and Black anodized Freedom Edition versions. Pre-ordering will begin soon.

Springfield Armory’s 10,000 Round Hellcat Test

The Hellcat from Springfield Armory has proven its mettle in a grueling 10,000-round test, showing that the EDC innovator not only has the features to make it the best on the market, but also the durability to outlast all the competition.

With support from Federal Ammunition and Action Targets, Off the Reservation’s Clay Martin put the Hellcat through this challenging test over the span of two days. Martin brought a wealth of firearms expertise to bear during the test, from his background as a competitive shooter as well as his time in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army, retiring as a Special Forces Intelligence Sergeant from 3rd SFG (A).

From its release on 9/25/19, the Hellcat has quickly built a reputation for excellent quality and performance, and represents a new direction for Springfield Armory polymer pistols. Being the smallest high-capacity 9mm in the world, the +P-capable pistol packs in 11+1 rounds (13+1 with extended magazine) in a 3″-barreled micro pistol that weighs around 18 ounces empty. And with the OSP version, you gain the ability to direct mount micro-sized red dot optics.

“When we learned of Martin’s test, we were excited about seeing the Hellcat prove what it could do,” says Steve Kramer, Vice President of Marketing with Springfield Armory. “When a micro-sized pistol designed for concealed carry bests a test more appropriate for full-sized duty pistols, it allows the quality of the product speak for itself,” he continued.   Continue reading

Springfield Challenges Micro 9mm Carry Market with New Hellcat

Springfield Armory Announces Hellcat: Worlds Highest Capacity Micro 9mm

Seeking to challenge the market segment currently ruled by Sig’s amazingly small 10-round micro-9, the P365, Springfield has announced their latest concealed carry wunderkind, the Hellcat. Although not big fans of the company, this new pistol has us genuinely curious. Although essentially impossible to find locally in our neck of the woods, we’re looking forward to handling the diminutive, well-capacitied, optic-ready pistol at SHOT Show and getting the opportunity to run some rounds through it at Industry Day at the Range in a couple of months.

Springfield’s announcement:

After years of development, we are proud to introduce the Hellcat, the highest capacity micro compact 9mm in the world and the next generation of defensive pistol from Springfield Armory.

“This is the first step in a new direction for Springfield Armory polymer handguns and embodies our disciplined approach to modern firearms design. Every detail of the Hellcat has been shaped by a singular mission — to deliver the definitive concealed carry handgun,” says Dennis Reese, CEO of Springfield Armory.

The 3″ barreled micro compact pistol features a class leading capacity of 11+1 with its patented magazine — 13+1 with the included extended mag — and is the result of years of painstaking development and engineering in addition to intensive collaboration with top engineers, shooters and self defense experts.   Continue reading

Springfield’s New M-LOK Saint Rifles

Springfield Armory is pleased to announce new M-LOK compatible SAINT rifles chambered in 5.56mm NATO. These SAINT rifles now feature slim M-LOK compatible handguards from Bravo Company, with an internal aluminum heat shield.

The SAINT rifles now come in two configurations – one model features a pinned, picatinny railed gas block and includes an SA low-profile flip-up front sight, and the other has an A2-style front sight and pinned gas block. Each M-LOK compatible SAINT model includes a low-profile, dual aperture flip-up rear sight with ½ minute of angle windage adjustments.

At the heart of these SAINT rifles is an M16 bolt carrier group, with a Carpenter 158 steel bolt that has been shot-peened and magnetic particle tested to meet the most demanding durability requirements. The 16-inch barrel is made of Chrome Moly Vanadium and Melonite coated inside and out for longevity and corrosion resistance. A 1:8-inch twist rate barrel is capable of stabilizing a broad range of ammunition types and projectile lengths. The rifles are a lightweight 6.11 ounces, capable of quick and easy handling under strenuous conditions.

Unlike many AR-15s on the market, the SAINT family of rifles feature an upgraded trigger right out of the box. The nickel boron-coated GI single-stage trigger operates smoothly and provides a clean, grit-free pull. These M-LOK compatible SAINTs also use a mid-length gas system with an “H” heavy tungsten buffer, designed to mitigate snappy recoil and ensure a smooth, accurate, and comfortable shooting experience. The Accu-Tite™ tension system provides a tight, wobble-free fit between the upper and lower receivers, which are constructed from Type III hard anodized aircraft-grade 7075 T6 aluminum.

Bravo Company outfits the M-LOK compatible SAINT rifles with quality furniture, including the upgraded BCM Gunfighter stock, the Mod 3 pistol grip, and the BCM trigger guard. One 30-round Magpul PMAG is included.

These new M-LOK compatible SAINT rifles are also available in a California legal configuration with a Strike industries featureless grip, Magpul MOE fixed carbine stock and SA muzzle brake. These models ship with one 10-round Magpul PMAG.

GunLink’s Best of SHOT Show 2012

Well, the 2012 NSSF Shooting Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show has come and gone from Fabulous Las Vegas and the 1,600 exhibiting companies brought with them many great innovations in the firearms, law enforcement, personal and home protection and outdoor realms.  It also brought out many faces familiar to firearms and outdoor enthusiasts.  The NSSF reports record setting buyer attendance (36,383 to be exact – which lead to record-setting numbers of sales orders being written at the show) and what they describe as “what may be the highest level of enthusiasm our industry has shown to start a new year.”  The record-setting attendance of 61,000 may have been a part of what prompted the 3-year contract extension which guarantees that the show will remain in Las Vegas at least through 2015.

With a show as huge as SHOT, it can take a little time to digest everything that one sees and does during the show.  The 2012 SHOT Show festivities lasted from January 16th through 20th 2012 and included shooting range time, company exhibits, movie screenings, celebrity appearances, meetings and more.  By now, we’ve had just about enough time to come up with a brief list of some of our favorite things from this year’s show.  Continue reading
